My name is Dominic. A few months ago, I became one (1) of five (5) grand prize winners to the Microsoft Youthspark Challenge For Change Competition for my project Libroko.com, an online forum and resource for Filipino students and teachers across the Philippines to discuss and understand Filipino literature like Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo in the context of history.
Winning the Youthspark Challenge gave me the awesome opportunity to participate in the Sprout online workshop, a 9-week long workshop to help young entrepreneurs, like me, develop their social innovative ideas and projects to the fullest. I started this blog for two reasons: to document my journey through this workshop and to let the online community know more about Libroko.com as a I continue to develop it further.
This is my first post in response to our first assignment to lesson 1:

Lesson One:
Addressing Issues, Mandate, & Stakeholder Analysis
Task:
Create a Blog post following the instructions included in the lesson description. Once complete, click the Submit Task bar at the bottom of this page and fill out the form. You are required to submit the following deliverables:

Every Filipino high-schooler has to read two books, and these are Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. These books, written by Jose Rizal, sparked the rebellion that would ultimately lead to Philippine independence after 333 years of Spanish colonial rule. Over time though, these stories have lost some of their relevance, especially to the young people who are reading these books more than a hundred years later. Libroko.com aims to use these shared stories to foster a sense of national identity in Filipino youth, using its user-friendly platform as a way for young people to rediscover key moments in Filipino history through one of the most famous stories in our literary canon. To make these stories come alive, so to speak.
